Learn More About Adding Neural Reset Therapy
Into Your Massage Sessions
Neural Reset Therapy (also called NRT) is a unique soft-tissue therapy quite different from traditional massage. This technique allows the therapist to reset the nervous system to release muscles from excessive tension and pain within seconds. People with problems in neck and back pain, muscle spasms, headaches (migraines), carpel tunnel syndrome, TMJ, tennis or golf elbow, and sciatica-like pain can benefit greatly (and quickly) by incorporating Neural Reset Therapy into their massage sessions. Or experiencing a session for Neural Reset Therapy alone.

Neural Reset Therapy incudes no massaging of the muscles, no deep pressure, no lotions or creams, no facedown positions, are done fully clothed, and involve no stretching. There is no need for the muscle that is being reset to be touched and can be done from opposite the side of the body experiencing pain. In your body, there are specialized nerve bundles called mechanoreceptors. The receptors respond to pressure, velocity, vibration, stretch, and other forces. When receptors detect a change, a signal is sent to the spinal cord and then relayed to the brain.

With Neural Reset Therapy, the therapist briefly stimulates the receptors embedded in the selected muscle by asking for a position to be held or for a movement in a particular direction. Or the therapist taps on a muscle in such a way as to cause receptors to send a special message to the spinal cord. That new message goes through the spinal integrating center which will reset the nervous system so the muscle is optimized neurologically. With the reset, the muscular pain and tightness disappear within seconds.
